Inspirational Quote Poster

For my project, I chose to use a quote by H.H the Dalai Lama (“Know the Rules Well, So You Can Break them Effectively”).

After much deliberation, the image I chose incorporates the basic elements of design (the “rules”, if you will), specifically the Platonic, elemental forms of shape and colour (CMYK). I chose this because I wanted to emphasize the importance of appreciating and understanding these basic elements before we can put our own hand to them (as I suggested with the hand-done marker elements behind each shape).

Bauhaus Scavenger Hunt

The Bauhaus style is one that has stayed with us, even if only in subtle influence. This week, we were challenged to find examples of this influence in our everyday surroundings, specifically in furniture, household items, and building exteriors. 

This geometric glass and metal table seems especially Bauhaus inspired.

The UBC School of Architecture building has a reputation of being especially Bauhaus in style.
